How Baby is Doing:
I can’t believe my little belly monster is another week older today. Everyday I wake up to your beautiful little face so excited to get to know you a little better. This week was a little less busy than the last since my mama and cousin went back to Texas. Your daddy started back at work on Thursday so I’ve been able to spend a lot more alone time with you. You spend most of that time on my lap or belly as I read for school. You love to be held but you do well on your own, too. You make the most adorable little sounds and every now and then let out a random, crazy sounding coo. I can’t even describe it and I’ll probably never get it on tape because it’s very unpredictable. You are eating, peeing, and pooping A LOT more this week. I can’t believe how many diapers we have gone through, but I’m glad you’re healthy. You are a bit gassy and spit up a lot so we bought you The Nap Nanny so that youcan sleep comfortably at an incline. So far so good. Since we bought it you have had a four hour stretch of sleep, which has been GREAT for mama and papa. Other than that you still wake up about every 2.5 to 3 hours. You keep us busy, that’s for sure!

-Eva lost her umbilical cord stump! Waaahhh! My baby girl is growing up so fast.

How Mama is Doing:
Physically: I’m still quite sore which I find to be rather unexpected. I guess I’ve always been one to bounce back from everything very quickly and I thought my pain would really only last a week, tops. It has eased up considerably but I’m definitely not at 100%. This is really frustrating to me, mostly because I haven’t gone two weeks without running and lifting in YEARS! I guess I overestimated childbirth and underestimated childbirth recovery. All I know is that I can’t wait until I can get back in the gym and into the water. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to after another week, though. I may not be comfortable in a bikini but I can’t wait to surf again! On a related note, I finally got brave enough to weigh myself and I’m 7lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight (I had gained exactly 25lbs during pregnancy). I’m going to take it easy for another week or two before I decide to go on post-baby boot camp. I want to give my body a little bit more time to heal before I shock it back to normal. You’ll see lots of posts about my diet and workout plan when the time comes. On the upside, my boobs are no longer engorged. I started to think it was never going to end. I’m pretty tired all the time but it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. I always wondered how new mothers function on such little sleep. Now I know there must be some sort of hormone or crazy force that keeps us going. Still, people always seem surprised (and some even upset) that I’ve been up and about. With school and everything I really don’t have a choice! Plus I get stir crazy if I stay home all day.
Emotionally: I’ve been really emotional lately, in a good way. I’m so overwhelmingly happy to have my little girl. I never thought I was capable of this much love. It’s really indescribable.
