Eva’s One Month Checkup

Eva had her one month check-up yesterday. She now weighs 9.8 lbs and is 21 inches long, which puts her in the 95th percentile for weight and 78th for height. She’s my little chunkster. ♥ On the downside, the doctor said she likely has acid reflux. 🙁 She spits up a lot and is really uncomfortable for a while after feedings. She’s not colicky and she’s gaining (a lot of) weight, though, so the doctor said it would be best if we avoid putting her on any medications. I completely agree. Hopefully the little muscles in her stomach will get stronger and she’ll grow out of it soon. Anybody have any experience with this?

Other than that, everything looked great. She’s a healthy, happy little baby. 🙂

After her check-up we went for a little walk on the beach. It was a cloudy day and we got rained on but we still had a blast.

  1. Both of mine have reflux. K’s isn’t all that bad, I just make sure and sit her up for about 30 minutes after a meal before I lay her down and it helps a lot. P’s is severe and she is on medication for it. Eva’s doesn’t seem to be that severe if she is gaining weight. She is just a doll baby!!! I love a good, healthy chunky baby! Go Eva! 🙂

  2. Emery never had acid reflux, that I know of. But what helped me alot when it came to spitting up, was switching over to Dr. Brown bottles. I bought the glass ones, but they sell them in BPA free plastic ones too. They have these vents that keep the air and bubbles out of the milk, which is often the reason why baby’s spit up. Anyway, once we switched over to those, Emery would spit up maybe once a day for the first week, and then she completely stopped.

  3. I worked at a daycare before I became a stay at home mommy. Lol. A lot of the babies had acid reflux and we would always let them sit up at an angle anywhere from 15-30 minutes after every feeding. Another trick while there younger is feed an ounce, burp them, then feed an ounce again, burp them and just continue that cycle. I hoped I helped a little. =)

  4. Glad the little one is doing well! Sorry to hear she has acid reflux… but I’m glad to hear it’s not colic! Good luck managing that, I hope she’s over it soon… I know it can be trying. 🙁
