Guttermouth

A couple of weeks ago I went to my first punk show in years. Hawaii’s scene consists of mostly hardcore bands and mainland punk bands rarely visit. The band was Guttermouth, which has been on my top 5 for over 10 years. It was fantastic. Before the show I was debating whether or not I should jump in the pit. The last time I was at a show I got punched in the face (accidentally, of course). I feel like I’m too old for that stuff now. But I couldn’t help myself, and I’m glad I went for it. I was front and center for the whole set, belting out the lyrics and getting tossed around. I left the show with a few bruises and an overwhelming sense of fulfillment.
