Throwback Thursday: Mount Lubo

Soon after arriving in Boracay, some guys on the beach were advertising a go-cart tour of the island and Mount Lubo, the highest point on Boracay. We thought it sounded fun, so we went for it. We hopped in a gocart and were led up the mountain by two guys on a four-wheeler. It was nice getting away from the resort area and seeing what the surrounding community was like. The views from Mount Lubo were amazing. We could see most of the island, including where we were staying. I still think that Boracay has the prettiest water out of any other place I’ve travelled.

One thing that kind of bummed me out was the mini-zoo they had up there. Most of the animals were kept in pretty small cages. The monkeys didn’t look too stoked on life. 🙁

Being able to play with a bat was really neat, though. He was surprisingly friendly.
Aside from the somewhat depressing animal experience, I would recommend a go-cart ride up Mount Lubo if you ever find yourself in the area.

  1. Oooh! I’ve been thinking of taking a trip to the Philippines — first to Subic where I grew up as a U.S. Navy kiddo back in the day and then to a island like Boracay for some fun, sun & relaxation. Was it hard to get to Boracay? Or was it smooth sailing?

    Thanks & Cheers,
    Kristina
