Well I FINALLY have internet, and let me just say… not having internet for over a week is not nearly as refreshing or romantic as people say it is. In fact, I’m surprised I didn’t go completely insane because of it. Anyway, I’m happy to be back on the blog today and I have a lot of catching up to do! My first week in Africa has been everywhere between extremely fun to extremely boring. It’s not generally safe for me to walk places by myself, and my truck won’t arrive in Tanzania for a few months. Since this was my husband’s first week on the job, he’s been gone a lot, leaving me at home with no internet and no cell phone. I tend to get stir crazy at it is, but with no contact with the outside world it was brutal. At least he was able to download a bunch of shows on his laptop for me before we left. Nonetheless, I’m glad that’s all behind me. The time I have spent outside our (amzing, btw) house has been a blast. We’ve already taken the boat out and ventured to local restaurants and markets. The summer weather has been beautiful (a little on the humid side… nothing I’m not already used to). I’ve seen some pretty cool things like women walking gracefully while balancing huge baskets on their heads filled with anything you can think of. I’m loving all the colorful kangas I’ve seen and am planning on getting one soon so that I can throw my baby in there. I also have a volunteer opportunity in the works that I’m really looking forward to. I don’t have many pictures yet because I don’t want to be that typical American taking pictures of everything but I’ll probably take more when I get my iPhone back. Other than that, I’m dying for things to slow down at my husband’s job so that we can do a little more exploring. I can’t wait for the weekend!
