Day Ten: Sky

This picture was taken exactly six months ago today. It was Evita’s half-birthday, and one of my last days in Hawaii. I remember watching the sunrise that day, thinking about how March 10, 2013 was so far away. I didn’t know where we’d be living or who we’d be celebrating with. In reality, this day came faster than I could have ever imagined. The sunrise often puts it in perspective for me- how fast life goes, and how this is our time. One of my favorite quotes by a fellow geographer (John Muir) goes: “The grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.”
