20 Weeks – Half Baked!

Size of baby: About 10 inches from head to heel – the length of a large banana.
Symptoms: Backaches!!! I think I’m starting to get some round ligament pain and maybe some Braxton Hicks contractions.  I keep feeling weird pains going on in my belly.
Sleep: Pretty crappy as usual.
Fetal Movement:  Lots and lots of kicks! It’s so exciting!!! <3 <3 <3 It usually only happens when I’m lying down in bed, though.
Cravings:  Fresh flour tortillas… can’t wait to get to Texas.
Aversions:  Vitamin water & powerade-type stuff… gives me metal mouth! And speaking of Half-Baked, I still can’t eat Ben and Jerry’s either for some reason… It just doesn’t taste good to me anymore. So strange!
Best Moment this Week:  The baby keeping me up all night with his/her kicking!
What I Look Forward To: T minus FIVE DAYS until I find out whether this little belly monster will be a grom or gromette!!!! SOOOOOOOO excited!!!!!
Words of Wisdom for the Week:  Welp, I made it to the halfway point in my pregnancy! In some ways it’s gone by really fast and in other ways it has gone by really slow. I just can’t wait to meet my little baby!!! I hope the second half of pregnancy goes as smoothly as the first.

19 Weeks

Size of baby:  About 6.5 inches crown to rump (the size of a small cantaloupe)
Sleep:  Pretty bad. I can’t get comfortable and my back is always hurting. I can only imagine what it’s going to be like when my belly gets even bigger.
Symptoms:  well just when I thought my skin was clearing up it came back with a vengeance (sucks!) aaand I always have to pee
Fetal Movement:  It’s still pretty inconsistent but I feel sooo happy and warm inside when I do feel it.
Cravings:  Pecans, Crunchy Cheetos
What I Look Forward To:  Finding out the gender in a week and a half so I can start my registry & do what I do best- SHOP!
Words of Wisdom for the Week:  I read in a few blogs that I follow that this week was pregnancy loss awareness week.  Some days I wish this pregnancy would go by faster, but I try to remind myself being pregnant is a gift and an amazing life experience that I should savor every minute of.  I guess it will be easier when I feel the baby moving around more often to remind me that he/she is there.  I’ll be back to the things I miss about not being pregnant before I know it.

18 Weeks

Sorry my hair is always out of control in these pics, I always take them when I first wake up.

Size of baby: About 6 inches from crown to rump (the size of a large mango)

Sleep: Not too good. I’m starting to think I won’t be having good nights of sleep for a long time. Last night I had a baby dream.

Symptoms: backaches! ugh… my bad skin finally looks like it’s starting to clear up, though.

Fetal Movement: a few more tickles every now and then

What I Look Forward To: Feeling real, no joke kicks. It is kind of eerie to feel something one day and then not feel anything for another couple of days. I can’t wait until it’s more consistent and obvious. Finding out gender, of course! 2.5 weeks away. I can’t wait to start shopping!!!

Words of Wisdom from this Week: No joke, sometimes it can be really scary and frustrating seeing all the changes my body is going through. It’s getting hard for me to button my jeans. All my clothes are definitely fitting tighter. Even though I know it’s because I’m pregnant, these things are terrifying for a fitness junkie like me. Sometimes I really just need to take a deep breath and know it will all be worth it when I have my little baby in my arms. I have no worries about not getting my body back afterward- I’m a pro at cutting weight!

Other Interesting Info: So it’s always so confusing that pregnancy is 40 weeks but 9 months. If you think of a month as 4 weeks (or 4.5 weeks) it’s hard to figure out how many months pregnant you are compared to how many weeks you are. Well, according to this handy dandy chart I found on a pregnancy website, I’m 5 months this week! Pretty crazy, but here it is:

17 Weeks

Size of baby: a little over 5 inches (about the size of a grapefruit)

Sleep: It’s getting really difficult for me to get comfortable. My back always hurts.

Cravings: I haven’t really had any this week, actually.
Symptoms: backaches, headaches
Fetal Movement: I’ve definitely felt him/her! When it first started it felt more like a slushing but now I feel tapping too. (kicks?)
What I Look Forward To: Finding out whether my baby is a boy/girl in three and a half weeks!

Other Interesting Info: There are many natural health practitioners that believe in the power of touch. Though your little one is still very small, your touch may do much to help him feel safe and warm inside the womb. If you haven’t started already, you might consider rubbing your ‘pooch’ in calming circular motions. This will not only help comfort your little one, but will help initiate the bonding process with you and your baby throughout your pregnancy and after.
